How the City of Ottawa is Promoting Cycling | Next-Ottawa Speaker Series

Date

November 5, 2019

Time

4:00pm - 6:00pm

Place

Impact Hub Ottawa, 6th floor

There are changes through the 2013 Transportation Master Plan that have created much better planning processes to include cycling. With our distinguished speaker, we will dive into the City's policies supporting cycling. We'll hear how the city identifies what kind of cycling facility a street should be equipped with, the successes and challenges of cycling in the city, and more!

Speaker: Robin Bennett, City of Ottawa

Robin Bennett is a Registered Professional Planner who has specialized in Active Transportation in Ottawa for approximately 25 years.  He has a special interest in cycling transportation and has been employed by the City of Ottawa since 2000 as first the Cycling Facilities Coordinator and now as a Project Manager in Cycling Programs.  He lives in Westboro but has worked on cycling issues covering the entire city.  Robin is concerned about the quality of planetary health and is happy to be working in a field that is reducing greenhouse gas emissions caused by the transportation sector.

This event is one in the speaker series: Next-Ottawa. This monthly meetup will dive into various aspects of environmental sustainability and innovation with the goal of connecting people and creating action in Ottawa. We want to see this city step up and become an example for decarbonization, circular economy, and more for the rest of the country (and the world) to follow!
